The first Scales ‘N Tails Store opened its doors in Northglenn, Colorado in 1996. Reptile ownership has been spreading like wildfire ever since. It has been a pleasure seeing many people discovering the joy and satisfaction that comes with owning pet reptile.







Scales ‘N Tails was founded by Jim Whitt. Jim’s appreciation for reptiles started in his youth, while spending his free time in the high desert surrounding Las Vegas, Nevada. His commitment to animals and his dream of owning a business led to the opening of the first Scales ‘N Tails store in 1996.







For over 25 years, Scales ‘N Tails has been there to support reptile enthusiasts!
We have grown to 15 locations, spreading across four states.
We have a strong desire to continue to add new locations.







The company started Franchising locations in 2011, when one of Jim’s friends
had an interest in purchasing a store.
The business model has proven to be successful, and more locations have
opened since. More are in the works!
